In 2020, emergency departments recorded 3 million visits related to falls by older adults, according to the CDC. Falling once doubles your chances of falling again, and many of these falls result in medical care. But the good news is that falling does not have to be inevitable.
On March 9, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Powell Wellness Center will host a free fall prevention and balance screening program that is open to the public. Physical therapist Shane Devlin, PT, UVA Health, will share tips on improving and maintaining your balance and offer individual balance screenings. No registration is required.
