To help inform our community, we periodically will share information from CoverVa, an informational resource for Virginia residents who want to know more the Medicaid expansion planned for 2019.  Prior to and after the Medicaid expansion, the Free Clinic of Culpeper will continue to serve the Culpeper community. The clinic encourages anyone who is under insured or does not currently have health insurance to inquire about eligibility for clinic services.

From CoverVA:

The rules for health coverage in Virginia have changed.

Soon, there will be new health coverage that offers comprehensive, low-cost, quality, services. Beginning January 1, 2019, this coverage will be available to approximately 400,000 adults, including many people who work in retail, construction, childcare, landscaping, food service and other jobs that don’t provide health insurance.

The new coverage will include doctor visits, prescriptions, preventive care, hospital stays, mental health services and more.

Under the new guidelines, a single adult making $16,750 or below annually may be eligible. A parent in a family of three with a household income of $28,700 or below may also qualify. An applicant must be 19 to 64 years old and cannot receive or be eligible for Medicare. Additional criteria apply.

You can find more information about the new coverage for adults at www.CoverVa.org. The website also has a screening tool and Frequently Asked Questions. CoverVA is updated regularly, so check back often for new information.
