The Free Clinic of Culpeper provides confidential medical care and prescription drugs for Culpeper County adults who do not have health insurance or the means to pay for healthcare.
The Free Clinic of Culpeper provides support
to many members of our community who are struggling
to manage serious health challenges. Jennie, a patient of the clinic,
recently shared how she is facing complex health issues with
the clinic’s assistance.
One of only three Medical Fitness Association certified facilities
in Virginia, Powell Wellness Center offers a therapeutic and recreational
aquatic complex, strength & cardio equipment and extensive programs
to support community wellness needs.
Culpeper Sport & Fitness welcomes all ages to “find their fit”
through indoor racquet sports, high intensity interval training,
group exercise classes, sports performance training and access to cardio
and strength equipment. Youth activities include tennis, Taekwondo,
tumbling, boot camp and team training.
To improve health and promote wellness in Culpeper, Madison, and Orange counties.
The Foundation works to achieve its mission by:
- providing health and fitness programming and services
- ensuring the availability of high quality medical care for low-income, uninsured adults, and
- providing mission related grants to local nonprofits
The Culpeper Wellness Foundation operates Culpeper Sport & Fitness, Powell Wellness Center and the Free Clinic of Culpeper.
The Foundation holds a unique role in the community as a provider of services, a grantmaker and a partner in the pursuit of building healthier communities.

Powell Wellness Center (PWC), recognized in 2018 as Certified Medical Fitness Facility of the Year, is one of only three Medical Fitness Association-certified facilities in Virginia. A volunteer Medical Advisory Board guides staff in the development and delivery of medically-integrated fitness programs that help children and adults improve their physical and emotional well-being through health education, regular exercise and increased physical activity. Powell offers a variety of group exercise classes and aquatic programs, including swim lessons for all ages.
Culpeper Sport & Fitness offers indoor racquet sports, high intensity interval training (HIIT), group exercise classes, sports performance training and access to cardio and strength equipment. CSF is the area’s most youth-focused fitness center, offering tennis, Taekwondo, tumbling, boot camp, B-Board® balance classes and team training for kids, and program support to youth-focused community organizations and schools.

Earlier this year community members were asked to share their thoughts on health needs in our five county region for the purposes of community health improvement. Based on this community input, a final report is now available and online meetings will be held for the public to review the area reports’ findings.
The Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, Culpeper Wellness Foundation and the PATH Foundation partnered to fund a contact tracing program, in collaboration with nursing programs at George Mason University and Lord Fairfax Community College.
