In August 2021 the Culpeper Wellness Foundation awarded $154,000 to four area organizations in support of health and wellness initiatives. The recipient organizations are Culpeper Baptist Church, Madison County Emergency Medical Services, Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services and the Town of Culpeper.

Culpeper Baptist Church: $10,000 for start-up supplies and furnishings for the new Adult Day Center opening in 2022 that will serve residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties.

Madison County Emergency Medical Services: $32,470 for the purchase of 17 automated external defibrillators (AEDs), used to help individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The AEDs will be for the county’s emergency vehicles.

Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services: $25,000 to support the ongoing development of the S.E.E. (Support, Encourage, Empower) Recovery Center, located in Culpeper and serving youth and adults in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties. The S.E.E. Center offers an array of recovery-oriented groups and meetings, and opportunities to receive support from peer recovery specialists and crisis counselors for mental health and substance use recovery.

Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services: $87,000 to support a second mental health clinician to work as a co-responder with the Town Police Department. The Foundation board voted to approve a grant of up to $87,000 for year one and $83,000 for year two, ensuring that the position is fully funded for at least two years (in partnership with the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation and the Path Foundation).
